Raffaele Ponti was named on Saturday, March 23, 2013 as the new Music Director and Conductor of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra (FL). Ponti, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra (KY), was announced by CSO board Chairman Ken Barber.
Barber said the process to choose Ponti was "fully inclusive," in that "we asked our Patrons and our Musicians as well as our Search Committee and the Board of Directors to assess each of the candidates and provide a choice. I'm pleased to report that all four of these constituencies came to the same conclusion, that Raffaele Ponti should be the next Music Director and Conductor of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra."
